GBYSA Recreational Program
Rules
THIS PROGRAM IS A CONTINUATION OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF PLAYERS. IT IS DESIGNED TO INTRODUCE, DEVELOP AND REINFORCE NEW AND BASIC SOCCER SKILLS.
We encourage Coaches to draft parents to help them out during practices. During games, only certified/registered Coaches will be allowed with players. In the event you cannot be present at a scheduled game, please notify your Coordinator as soon as possible so that they can try and make arrangements to have the team covered so that the children can play. Each team will have an assigned practice time and location. Once you pick a practice day it is yours for the rest of the season. If you must change you practice please check with your Coordinator prior to making any announcements to the parents. Usually all nights and times are filled so it may take some time to try and move you.
The following pages contain the basic rules for the laws of the game.
Above all please remember that this might be a child’s first experience with organized sports. Keep it FUN and educational. Make sure that every player brings their own ball to practice so that they can always stay involved . Attention span is still very short, keep them active; no lines, no laps and no lectures. Reinforce ball control and creating space.
